Managing Fees and Payments

Start by defining Fee Types — Tuition, PTA Levy, feeding, whatever your school charges for — then build Fee Structures that attach an amount to a fee type for a given term, either at the class level or across a whole year group. Every student's fee status — Paid, Partial, or Unpaid — is calculated live from what they've actually paid against what they owe, so there's no separate "generate invoices" step to remember to run.

Payments genuinely support installments: a parent (or the bursar's office, for cash and bank transfers) can pay part of a balance today and the rest later, and each payment simply accumulates against the same record rather than creating a confusing trail of partial invoices. Online payments run through Paystack, and every payment is verified server-side against Paystack directly (or through a signed webhook) before it's ever marked as received — a payment is never trusted just because the browser said it succeeded, which matters when real school fees are involved.

The Finance dashboard gives a school-wide view of collection rate, a defaulters list, and a breakdown of paid, partial, and unpaid balances, filterable by class or term.
